Power Struggle 7 Bouldering Comp Highlights

Another stellar show was put on at Prime Climb's Power Struggle 7!  It was a great showing for a comp that was previously cancelled due to a snow storm.  The Prime Climb setters went back to work for the third time this year stripping down the bouldering wall to make a blank canvas on which to craft some tricky problems for the competitors to pull on.  Click on the video below to check out the highlights from the competition!

Women's Finalists: (L to R) Adelia Wong, Molly Gaynor, Isabelle Faus

Men's Finalists: (L to R): Bryce Viola, Ty Landman, Augie Cohn

If you are a competitive climber and didn't make it to this year's competition, I highly recommend making it to next year's.  These comps are NEVER a disappointment when it comes to the qualifying round and the finals showdown.  Also, there were some great prizes for top finishers in designated categories and raffle prizes (shown below).

Be sure to go check out the Prime Climb Gym sometime soon to climb on the problems that were shown in the video!

Power Struggle 7 Back On May 4th, 2013

Old Man Winter did not have the fortitude to keep this rad bouldering comp from happening!  The Prime Climb Power Struggle 7 was postponed due to the more than 3 feet of snow that fell upon most of Connecticut in February.  But have no fear, the comp is back and will be held on Saturday May 4th, 2013!

This is the 3rd comp (1st Cancelled Power Struggle, CCS comp, and upcoming May 4th Power Struggle) that will be set at Prime Climb in about as many months.  The first two comps that were set had AMAZING problems.  The setting crew at Prime Climb are very talented and experienced setters that have no problem digging through their creative minds to splash some tricky, technical and fun problems up on the wall.  The comp will be an amazing test of skill and strength with a finals show that will be sure NOT to disappoint!

Competitors from around the New England area will make the trip to Prime Climb to crimp, pinch, slap and pull on some plastic in hopes of winning some money and prizes!  But even if you come just to have fun and climb at this comp you still get a t-shirt with your entry fee (shown below).  If you have never been to a bouldering comp and have never witnessed a finals round, this comp is a MUST see!  The power, intensity and heart that these competitors pour out onto the wall is an amazing event to watch!

There will be a Men's and Women's division with problems set for beginner, intermediate, advanced, and open (pro level) level climbers to tackle.  There are also a youth and Masters division.   Prizes will be awarded to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd  place of each division with a cash prize for the open division and the always famous plywood plaques (1st, 2nd, and 3rd Open category finals).  Men's and Women's open level qualifiers will compete later in the day for a chance to be the champion of the Power Struggle 7!

As a climber and competitor who has participated in past Power Struggle events, I recommend anyone with an interest in competitive sports or climbing to come and compete or just come out to watch an awesome event unfold down to the finals, you will not be disappointed!
